Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. is a 124-year-old law firm based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, that has built a rich heritage of successful client service by anchoring its practice in the time-honored principles of legal scholarship, professionalism, innovation and skillful, vigorous advocacy. We have produced a legacy of achievement by adapting our practice to serve the diverse and challenging needs of our clients. This versatility has resulted in a practice that serves clients locally in the Chattanooga area, regionally throughout Tennessee and the Southeast, and nationally. The scope of our services is equally broad, including business planning, consumer financial services, real estate, health care, estate planning, elder law and special needs, taxation, labor and employment law, intellectual property, environmental and construction law, and all aspects of litigation.

History
In 1886, Alexander W. Chambliss, who later became four-time former Chattanooga Mayor, as well as Tennessee Supreme Court Justice (1924) and Chief Justice (1947), began the firm’s tradition of assisting clients to achieve their objectives – no matter where those clients are located or how extensive their interests may be.
In 1997, two longstanding Chattanooga, Tennessee, law firms, Chambliss & Bahner, PLLC and Stophel & Stophel, P.C., merged to form Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C.
Commitment to Community
Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel is proud to be part of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Our lawyers serve on the boards of several local nonprofit organizations and take every opportunity to give back to the community through volunteer work and pro bono legal services. We also have a commitment to operating a green and environmentally-friendly law firm, making certain to leave as small a carbon footprint as possible in our home city through the use of energy-efficient computer equipment and a policy of paperwork reduction.
