Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel and BlueCross BlueShield Host 3rd Annual Street Law Corporate Legal Diversity Pipeline Program
March 30, 2011
Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel and the legal department at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee hosted the third annual corporate diversity pipeline program for students of the Criminal Justice Career Track at Brainerd High School on March 29, 2011.
The workshop was held at BlueCross BlueShield's Cameron Hill campus and gave Brainerd High School students the opportunity to work alongside attorneys and other legal professionals in mock legal scenarios.
The event began with a special visit from Chief U.S. District Court Judge Curtis Collier who spoke to the students about his own life story and how he found the inspiration to rise above difficult circumstances in pursuit of a legal career.
After the workshop, Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel hosted a job fair at the firm to expose students to legal career pathways. They met with lawyers from several different practice areas, the IT Department, and an intern who is applying to law school.
The Corporate Legal Diversity Pipeline Program is a national partnership between Street Law, Inc. and the Association of Corporate Counsel that tackles the lack of diversity in the legal profession by focusing on strategies that will encourage minorities to enter the profession.
