Chattanooga Attorney Hal North Appointed Chairman of Tennessee Bar Association's Special Committee on Foreclosure Procedure

Hal North, Chattanooga attorney of Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C. was recently appointed as Chairman of Tennessee Bar Association's Special Committee on Foreclosure Procedure.
Mr. North practices in the firm’s Litigation Section, where he concentrates his practice on domestic relations, as well as bankruptcy and creditors' rights and business litigation. He is licensed to practice in Tennessee and the District of Columbia, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals (Sixth Circuit and the District of Columbia), and the U.S. District Court (Eastern and Middle Districts of Tennessee and District of Columbia).
Mr. North is is also a member of the American, Chattanooga and District of Columbia Bar Associations, and he is a Fellow of the Chattanooga Bar Foundation. He formerly served as President of the Chattanooga Bar Association. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice, The American Bankruptcy Institute and the Directory of Bankruptcy Attorneys. Mr. North is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for bankruptcy and creditor-debtor rights law.
Mr. North is involved in various civic organizations, most recently as immediate past-President of the Chattanooga Rotary Club. He served as Chairman of the Board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Chattanooga and is a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. North previously served as a member of the Commission to Revise Tennessee Law on Mental Health and Mental Retardation (Title 33), and as Chairman of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department Civil Service Board and Chattanooga Area Crimestoppers, Inc.
Mr. North earned his law degree in 1980 from Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at The University of Memphis. He attended Furman University from 1973–1974 and went on to receive his B.A., with honors, from the University of Tennessee in 1977.
